Expanding Partnerships to Protect Children’s Health

Building blocks with people figures showing connections and partnerships.

The Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) established and strengthened partnerships to protect public health. The American Planning Association and Region II Head Start Program are important non-public health entities that help with locating child care facilities in environmentally safe places. DSHS’s joint training and outreach with these organizations measurably increased the knowledge and skills of professionals. DSHS also partnered with the National Environmental Health Association and several local planning and child care organizations. These partnerships will continue to benefit public health beyond the project period.
