The Set It Up Safe Toolkit helps you decide if a location is appropriate for an early care and education facility.
The following groups can use this tool and work together to keep children safe from harmful chemicals:
- facility owners and operators
- city planners
- zoning officials
- early care and education licensing agencies
- health and environmental protection departments
The recommendations in the tool can complement your state and local regulations.
The tool includes recommendations on four things to consider when choosing a location for a new early care and education facility:
- Former use of the site
- Nearby sites and nearby activities
- Naturally occurring contamination
- Safe drinking water
